Who doesn’t love a refreshing smoothie on a summer hot day, to be honest I would have one most days if I had all the ingredients.
Smoothies can be full of antioxidants, protein, water, and many good nourishing vitamins. Lately, I have been making them when the children nap, so they can be ready for us to take on the road enroute to school to pick up my son. I am personally not a fan of all the powders that some people add to their smoothies, I use all-natural sources in their purest form. I add a protein to my shake so that it keeps blood sugars from elevating.
Strawberry Summer Smoothie
2 cups of water
3 overripe bananas
1 cup of cooked butternut squash (you won’t taste it, excellent source of vitamin A, B & C)
1 avocado (protein source)
2 cups of frozen strawberries
Drizzle of maple syrup
Blend until smooth and enjoy. The options are endless. I like adding squash as it gives me another vegetable for my day
