June is National Health and Fitness Month
If you have been out of routine or stuck indoors more than you would like to admit, June is a great month to get back into things.
As you probably know, taking care of our bodies is something we want to make a lifestyle. Just like brushing your teeth, eating food, and drinking water, movement too should be part of your daily routine. The benefits are endless, but some of the more important ones are: that you feel better, you can maintain a healthy weight, improve your sleep, flexibility, focus, and strength.
Whether you work from home or from an office there are still ways to encourage you to move daily and get back to it this summer.
In The Office:
- Set movement alarms every two hours in your phone – this alarm will tell you to get up and walk, stretch, fill up your water
- Bring your own lunch and make a point to eat outside and go for a walk
- If your office has a gym-use it, join the classes/create a challenge with a friend
- Climb the stairs – if you are not a fan of the outdoors or the heat at lunch, you can take 15 minutes to climb stairs if your office has them
Home
- Join an outdoor class that fits your work schedule
- Hike a trail at each lunch break
- Go for a bike ride
- Workout in the morning before your day starts, seeing as you don’t have a morning commute, more time for you before you start your workday
Whatever your interests are I encourage you to find a way to incorporate it into your day. It is so important and moving more will make you feel better.
Happy Summer!
