Do you find you have been hermiting over the last couple of months, and your fitness routine has been lacking? I recommend that you move regularly, rain or shine, but if your workouts haven’t been happening, let’s dust off the shoes and find some ways to get moving.
- Decide where you want to go – will you choose a gym, the outdoors, a studio. First, set a schedule of what and where you will go. For example, you might run three times a week, and attend two weight training sessions at the community centre.
- Workout with a Personal Trainer – If you struggle with making time to exercise, find someone you can be accountable to. Tell them your goals and what you plan to do.
- Exercise early in the day – Mornings are better than evenings; when you work out in the morning, you get it done before the day starts. When you try to do it at night, you may find you are tired, get asked to do other things and then it doesn’t happen.
- Workout ritual – The night before each morning workout, lay out your clothes, check the weather to see what you will be getting into. The more prepared you are, the more likely you will get the workout done.
- Take small steps – Start slow, only take on what you can commit to and start with that, as you progress, add on slowly.
- Work out with a friend – motivate each other, and keep each other accountable along the way.
