We must take care of ourselves, but sometimes we get caught up in the busy of life and then we find ourselves drowning in all the things we need to do.
It’s okay to be selfish in taking care of ourselves so we can take care of others. For me, it’s waking up at 5am, so that I can take care of myself, and it allows me to take care of my family. Knowing I did my workout and took time to be quiet makes me feel so good. Exercise is my medicine. Here are my other best tips for positive mental health.
- Movement – did you move today in some way shape or form; our bodies were meant to move. Studies have shown exercise improves mental well-being in big ways.
- Be quiet – remove from the noise, taking time to be quiet allows you to be in the present and focus on yourself, breathe, etc. Take time every day to be quiet.
- Do something for yourself – have a coffee, read a book, warm bath, massage, the options are limitless.
- Spend time with a friend – meet up for a coffee or even pick up the phone, and have a good laugh with the one that you call a friend
Say NO! – I can’t stress this enough; we don’t have to say yes to everything. Saying yes to everything helps everyone else but you. I give you permission to say no!
